Pet Relief Room Branding

Edmonton International Airport

While at the Edmonton International Airport we were working on converting one of our old washrooms into a pet relief room for any travellers that had their pets (dogs and cats) as well as any travellers with service animals. Previously to let your pet ‘relieve’ itself you would have to exit the holdroom and go outside, just to have to go through security again, so many of our travellers (and pets) tried to avoid this as much as possible. With trying to increase accessibility for all travellers in the airport, adding an indoor pet relief room was the perfect step in that direction. Learn more about the pet relief room on EIA’s website.

The idea behind the graphics for the pet relief room were inspired by an old look book that EIA had done for its employees. The style that the dogs are illustrated in matches the line work from that look book. We wanted the EIA brand to be strong and to stand out against all the other merchants within the terminal. For that reason we also decided to decal that outside of the room to help attract passengers and hold them locate the room visually from a distance. The wall decal is made from a repeating pattern of a few dog faces, with the front and foremost dog being illustrated in motion, indicating that he is either walking, kicking up the turf, or even going pee, depending on how you want to interpret it!
