A Quick Note

I am not the best writer. This is a personal blog and collection of travel stories, personal quips, thoughts and ideas.

Most of what you are about to read is very informal, and some very raw (I’m not keen to proofread and edit my work). I’ve never been one for journalling as I don’t always have the patience to sit down and write, but I do often have a never ending thread of thoughts running through my mind. And at the very few times I remember to write anything down, I feel that it barely captures everything that I am thinking of even while typing.

Some items you can peruse may be personal ideas, inspirations, or even troubles that run through my mind that I try to type into my phone while sitting at the beach or walking through the park.

Please be patient and kind.
Hopefully you find something to enjoy :D

Melbourne

Where’s the sun? lol

That’s the question I’ve been asking myself almost every day since I’ve been here.

Very similar to Vancouver weather, and not necessarily what I signed up for when coming to Australia. I want the sun damn it!

My first few days in Melbourne were interesting? I wasn’t entirely sure what I was planning to do in Melbourne, apart from hopefully seeing a friend for the first time in a few years that lives here, but I didn’t even get to do that. I started my time in Melbourne very similarly to that in Sydney, arriving VERY early in the morning, like 06:00am and making my way to the hostel in order to drop off my bags.

I didn’t get up to a whole lot on the first day to be honest, I was soooo tired and I was counting down the minutes till I could official check in. Before the 15:00pm check in, I went for breakfast at a cute dinner type place and then I also went to the beach in St. Kilda and went for a cold dip, the sun was out at this time so it was refreshing. But then the clouds started covering the sun and it wasn’t feeling as warm, so I put my clothes on and started walking around. After some time I ended up going to look for more coffee and a snack. Trying to read and or play/draw on my iPad as much as I could. Although time definitely felt like it was passing very slowly. I finally decided to go find a park and take a nap. It helped but I got sap everywhere, guess I didn’t pick a good tree to take a nap under.

Apart from that my first few days in Melbourne were interesting. I joined some people from the hostel to the Fitzroy Flea Market and walking around Fitzroy for a bit, it was cool seeing the city from the perspective from a few folks that had been there for a bit. Another day I walked around the CBD, going to the National Gallery of Victoria, a bit of freelance graphic design work, some outdoor workouts, and finishing off with watching a gorgeous sunset as I accepted a job offer and made the decision to stay in Melbourne to work and try to earn a bit of money before going travelling again. Let the new adventure begin and I hope its as great as the sunset I witnessed reassured me it would be.

Beautiful pink sunset over Melbourne from St. Kilda to end my travels and start my work journey.
